5B Reading Project
Reading opens up your mind and heart! Grab a book and dive into whole new worlds!
With this spirit, we dived into an individual reading project in which students read and explored a book of their choice in considerable detail. First, they created their individual reading journals, completing a list of obligatory and elective tasks. The outcome was simply awesome. Each and every journal was a work of art in its own right, and we enjoyed them in a kind of reading journal exhibition, where we browsed through the journals with awe and amazement. Some produced fabulous poetry, while others drew wonderful pictures. There were book recommendations, character analyses, as well as parallels to real-world events. The students‘ engagement was not only visible; one could truly feel their dedication to and involvement with the book and project itself.
Second, the students prepared for their presentations, an essential part of which was the creation of posters. Once again, one masterpiece followed another. The level of language proficiency was remarkably high given that the students had just entered upper secondary education. Congratulations!
I hope you gained lots of inspiration and that your thirst for reading has skyrocketed! Reading all your fantastic journals and listening to your splendid presentations has extended my reading list to a seemingly endless collection of must-reads.
